Abstract

Transformers are vital components in the electrical network, with the main function of changing the electrical voltage according to operational needs. Along with the development of technology, traditional monitoring methods using analog meters and manual readings are starting to be replaced by more sophisticated digital systems, such as the Internet of Things (IoT). Previous studies have developed various transformer monitoring methods by utilizing IoT, algorithms, and other approaches to improve accuracy and efficiency. However, further development is still needed to improve the efficiency of energy management in transformers. This study proposes the development of an IoT-based transformer monitoring system that uses LoRa (Long-Range) communication to transmit monitoring data. As a result, the LoRa Ebyte E32 DTU Module is able to transmit data in indoor and outdoor conditions with varying ranges. However, this test was only carried out at a height of 1 meter from the ground where in sending data, the height between points needs to be higher than 1 meter. Trial delivery with distance between units gradually from 150 meters to 2.5 kilometers. © 2024 IEEE.
