This paper describes the implementation of renewable energy sources for electricity generation in Indonesia. Variety and capacity of each source both renewable and non-renewable are explained as well as their reserves. The government policies and planning followed by current projects and participation from private parties and research institutions activities are also mentioned. Also, some encountered obstacles in the process are stated to get some possible proposed activities to handle them. © 2011 IEEE.
