Generally, the antennas that are functioned as television receivers have big dimensions with quite difficult in installation process. In this research, the proposed Inverted L antenna has been numerically analyzed with the purpose as the television antenna receiver at 639 MHz. The characteristic of proposed IL antenna has been investigated by adjusting the height of the IL antenna (h), the size of the conducting plane (px × py) and the length of horizontal element as (L and LI) are optimized so that the input impedance matches the designed frequency. The inverted L antenna falls from the coaxial cable with the inner and outer radius respectively 0.255 mm and 1.095 mm. In the calculation, the height of the antenna (h) is adjusted from 15.6 mm up to 27.6 mm, the size of conducting plane (px × py) was 80 mm × 200 mm, 100mm × 250mm, 200mm × 350mm and the length of horizontal elements are optimized so that the input impedance at 50 Ohm. In the calculation, the electromagnetic simulator WIPL-D Simulator is used. When the size of conducting plane 100 × 250 mm, the height of the IL antenna 15.6 mm and the length of horizontal elements LI = 85 mm, L = 113.2 mm the return loss bandwidth characteristic (- 10dB) of 1.6% and the directivity gains of 3.58 dBi have been achieved at the resonant frequency of 639MHz. The highest bandwidth is obtained (8.54%) by shortening the size conducting plane of the IL antenna so that becomes 80 mm × 150 mm and the largest gain of IL antenna is obtained 3.75 dB by increasing so that the size of the base becomes 200 mm × 350 mm. The proposed IL antenna promises for the television antenna system. The future work will be addressed to enhance the bandwidth of the proposed antenna. © 2017 IEEE.
