This research aims to implement a shortest path algorithm on an Augmented Reality (AR) indoor navigation application to enhance accuracy and efficiency in shortest path finding. The A∗ algorithm is optimized to achieve more effective indoor navigation. The application was tested in Politeknik Negeri Malang building. The study shows that the A∗ algorithm is more efficient in finding the shortest paths compared to the previous research, with an effectiveness improvement of 64,1%. We can conclude that AR and the A∗ algorithm significantly contribute to improving efficiency in indoor navigation. However, the use of ARCore in this application has some limitations related to the specifications of the mobile phone and the physical environment conditions, requiring sufficiently unique visual features on each floor of the building to assist the SLAM algorithm in identifying the user's location. © 2024 IEEE.
