Mangrove monitoring is crucial in Kabupaten Malang, a region known for its 18 beaches. The increasing trend of mangrove deforestation, driven by unchecked tourism activities, underscores the need for an effective monitoring system. There is limited oversight from the government, which exacerbates the issue. This study aims to develop a geographical information system for a mangrove monitoring website that provides valuable insights to stakeholders while promoting awareness about eco-tourism practices. The project adopts the prototyping methodology within the software development life cycle to facilitate effective communication between researchers and expert users from Kabupaten Malang. The website was developed using the Django stack, a robust web development framework. User acceptance testing employed the Blackbox method, with results indicating that the system meets all defined use cases. Specifically, six use cases for administrators and three for guests were successfully validated, demonstrating the website's readiness for implementation as a pilot proj ect in Kabupaten Malang. The evaluation phase highlights opportunities for future enhancements, such as incorporating additional user roles to improve privacy and access control, integrating the platform with government systems for broader adoption, and embedding tutorial pages for user guidance. Additionally, real-time data integration from external resources is suggested to improve monitoring capabilities and encourage eco-tourism. These improvements aim to strengthen mangrove monitoring efforts and boost tourist engagement by emphasizing sustainable tourism practices. This initiative offers a promising step toward balancing ecological preservation and tourism development in Kabupaten Malang. © 2024 IEEE.
