Abstract

In Indonesia, roads are crucial for regional connectivity and economic growth. Effective road maintenance management is primarily managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) in collaboration with local governments, focusing on addressing forms of road deterioration such as potholes, cracking, rutting, and raveling. The open participatory model capitalizes on the high usage of mobile phones in Indonesia, projected to reach 97% by 2029, encouraging community participation in infrastructure management by enabling users to report road conditions in real-time using features such as GPS and camera functionality. The implementation of a digital map-based reporting system using OpenStreetMap and an AI-assisted mobile application enhances public involvement, fosters transparency, and improves road safety through real-time monitoring and efficient resource allocation by relevant authorities. This approach empowers citizens and promotes a safer traveling environment, ultimately contributing to better infrastructure management and community ownership. © 2024 IEEE.
