One critical equipment in power distribution systems is the distribution substation. Failure of the distribution substation will undoubtedly result in losses from both the utility and consumer perspectives. Therefore, distribution substations must be periodically evaluated and diagnosed to determine whether and when the equipment in the distribution substation needs to be repaired or replaced to maximize system operation. The matrix assessment method in CIGRE 761 is implemented to obtain the health index (HI) of distribution substations. This research also assesses and compares two previously suggested weighting factors, uniform weighting and weighting derived from Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Implementation and analysis are conducted on 703 distribution substation points. The results show that using the uniform weighting method indicates that 665 distribution substations are in the High category, 38 distribution substations are in the medium category. Meanwhile, the scoring matrix method that uses weighting from AHP shows that 628 distribution substations are in the High category, 74 distribution substations are in the medium category, and 1 distribution substation is in the Low category. © 2024 IEEE.
