Abstract

The rapid proliferation of smartphones, particularly Android devices, has intensified demand for developers proficient in cross-platform frameworks. Flutter has emerged as a leading solution, enabling high-performance iOS and Android apps from a single codebase, prompting its adoption in academic curricula. This study presents the implementation of a Multimedia Integration learning module within the Flutter Programming Learning Assistance System (FPLAS), a self-directed platform that merges structured instructional content with automated code verification. The innovation lies in the systematic integration of multimedia learning materials that include text, images, audio, and video with an automated test-driven development (TDD) environment specifically designed for Flutter. Learners develop a functional MediaPlayer application featuring animated splash screens and multimedia playback controls through a sequence of scaffolded tasks. An evaluation with 40 students showed that all participants completed the tasks successfully in the fourday time frame. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students highlighting the clarity of guidance and effectiveness of the integrated resources, while also proposing enhancements to code-level explanations and instructional detail. The results demonstrate the module's feasibility and potential to support effective, engaging mobile development education. © 2025 IEEE.
