Abstract

Performance and the continuous output optimization of the rooftop standalone solar powerplant are very essential for initial system evaluation. Currently, the monitoring system is complicated and steeply-priced and restricted to big-scale grid-connected solar plants. Several parameters must be known when using rooftop standalone solar powerplant, including system voltage, charge-discharge current, system temperature, and several environmental factors. This study aims to develop and evaluate a simple and economic method of a website-based rooftop standalone solar powerplant real-time monitoring system. The test results show that this smart web monitoring system of a standalone solar power plant can detect battery charging and discharging voltage, load current, solar panel current, and several environmental factors. Sensor readings all parameters, then sent to the website using the internet network with the help of a GPRS shield modem. The display on the website is in the form of tables, graphs, and can be downloaded in excel format. With the internet of things technology, monitoring parameters on solar power plants can be seen simply by opening a website page anywhere and anytime. © 2023 Author(s).
