The global surge in smartphone use and mobile applications has created a demand for skilled mobile program-mers. However, the complexity of Android programming poses challenges for teachers that underscore the need for effective teaching methods and computer-assisted learning in Android programming courses. Android Programming Learning Assistance System (APLAS) is a web-based platform designed to enhance An-droid programming courses by providing asynchronous teaching and self-learning opportunities. It offers automated assistance in code development and validation, by applying unit testing with JUnit and integration testing with Robolectric. Additionally, to improve educational assessments, the system incorporates an automatic grading feature, allowing teachers to focus more on teaching and mentoring, thereby enhancing teaching quality and student-teacher interactions. The study further presents a mechanism for automatically generating students' assignment grades by utilizing test codes with weighted complexity levels. The test results from test code execution are collected and calculated to produce a score value. Evaluation results from 60 students demonstrated consistent overall performance, and feedback from 10 teachers predominantly expressed positive sentiments (63 %), with the remaining comments being suggestive. This comprehensive approach highlights the potential of APLAS in fostering effective and efficient learning experiences in Android programming courses. © 2024 IEEE.
