Abstract

The paper discusses the effeccts of the adding nanofluids and ultrasonic vibration in the radiator using Radiator Coolant (RC) as base fluid. The reason is, the car cooling system plays a role in maintaining the engine working temperature. This study aims to determine the effect of nanofluid and ultrasonic vibration on overall heat transfer coefficient in radiator. The γAl2O3 nanoparticles size of 20-50 nm produced by Zhejiang Ultrafine powder&Chemical Co, Ltd China were used, and the volume concentration of the nanoparticles varied from 0.15%, 0.25% and 0.5%. By adjusting the fluid flow of the radiator temperature from 60°C to 80°C, the fluid flowrate varies from 7 to 11 lpm. The results showed that the addition of nanoparticles to the radiator-coolant increase overall heat transfer coefficient by 40% without vibration and the use of ultrasonic vibration increases overall heat transfer coefficient by 13.95%. © 2023 Author(s).
