Due to the billions of connected IoT smart devices, securing IoT is the most critical and challenging task for the research community. Due to the numerous systems and subsystems involved, IoT poses risks to end-users. This threat can manifest itself in the form of unauthorized persons gaining access to data and misusing it, fostering attacks on other systems, or fabricating fake data. In this paper we examine the effect of AES-8bit hamming weight (HW) with correlation power analysis attack (CPA). This research was revealed the hamming weight and CPA are a serious risk to the Arduino UNO™ or another microcontroller device implementing algorithm encryption. © 2021 IEEE.
