This study aims to investigate the impact of Augmented Reality (AR) effectiveness on English Specific Purposes (ESP) students' reading comprehension ability. A quasi-experimental research design was employed. The participants were ESP students majoring Information Technology Department of State Polytechnic of Malang. Additionally, the subjects were randomly assigned to two groups, either the experimental or control group. The experimental group received an AR-based reading comprehension treatment, while the control group received a traditional teaching method without AR technology. Pre-test and post-test were administered to both groups to measure their reading comprehension skills. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using statistical techniques in Paired Samples T-test and ANOVA. The findings revealed that the experimental group, exposed to AR technology, demonstrated significantly higher improvement in reading comprehension scores compared to the control group. These results suggested that AR implementation had a positive impact on ESP students' reading comprehension abilities, providing an immersive and interactive learning experience. The implications of this research highlight the potential of integrating AR technology into ESP curriculum design to enhance reading comprehension skills and improve overall learning outcomes for ESP students. © 2023 IEEE.
