Abstract

The power produced by a wind power plant is highly dependent on natural conditions, namely wind speed. Wind speed itself is closely related to air temperature and humidity in the surrounding air. Therefore, the prototype of a wind power plant needs to be equipped with a weather station monitoring system, which is a tool that can be used to monitor the weather around or in certain areas. This system can monitor temperature, humidity, and wind speed as well as wind turbine rotation. This study aims to design a weather station monitoring system using Arduino Mega components, JL-FS2 wind speed sensor, rotary encoder sensor, DHT 11 sensor, and ESP 8266 module. After installation and calibration of the weather station monitoring system in the wind power plant prototype, the results of testing the digital anemometer measuring instrument show an average error of 3.786%, the encoder module with a tachometer has an average error of 5.069%, and the DHT 11 module has an average error of 1.756% in temperature readings and an average error of 12.867% in humidity readings. This error percentage is caused by differences in the classification of measuring instruments, voltage loss, and delays in sending data on the website. © 2022 IEEE.
