Abstract

E-bike users in Indonesia have increased every year. With the increasing number of e-bike users, charging station infrastructure must be balanced, and standardized to provide a safe and comfortable charging station. It is recorded that in 2022, a total of 588 charging stations will be available and spread over 257 points. Indonesia has abundant sources of solar energy with an average solar radiation intensity of around 4.8 kWh/m2 per day. This has the potential to develop e-bike charging stations by harnessing solar energy. In building charging stations based on solar energy sources, they often face challenges with battery life problems. Using a battery that is out of standard causes the battery to be damaged quickly. Several factors produce low battery life including a battery that works outside the set temperature, the battery is over-charged, and the battery is over-discharged. Regarding the problem of overcharging and over-discharging, researchers propose to apply the prediction of battery charge with the Coulomb Counting approach. The system will stop discharging the battery if the lowest battery voltage limit is reached and the system will stop charging the battery if the battery charging time has been exceeded. The results of this study are that the system is able to predict charging time using the coulomb counting approach and the average predicted time for charging the battery with an Aquarium Heater load is 298,3 minutes for the 10 tests that have been carried out. © 2023 IEEE.
