Abstract

GPA Raya Ngijo Karangploso district has a cleaning team tasked with coordinating the collection of waste from residents and sending it to a final disposal site (TPA). The process of collecting waste from residents usually transits first at a temporary disposal site (TPS) to transfer waste from transport vehicles in housing to containers and waits for collection by the Malang Regency Environmental Service to be disposed of in a final disposal site (TPA). There are often problems with the process of picking up containers being delayed by various things, resulting in a buildup of garbage at the TPS. To overcome this, the cleaning team took the initiative to burn waste that could be burned using a kiln. This combustion process cannot be maximized because it is still done manually starting from sorting the waste to putting the waste into the furnace so that the officers are often overwhelmed in putting the waste into the furnace. To overcome this, the Cleaning Team requested assistance for waste management cooperation in the form of a conveyor to make it easier to put waste into the furnace and an internet of things-based furnace monitoring system to maintain the perfection of the combustion process. Combustion is said to be complete. CO2 gas produced from combustion does not exceed the threshold determined by the health department. This study aims to monitor CO2 levels produced from the waste burning process so that it does not interfere with the environment. The system was developed based on IoT so that all parties can participate in monitoring the level of cleanliness of the air around the furnace via their smartphones. From this research, the monitoring level for temperature and carbon gas reaches upper 95 percent and the success rate in sending data from the tool to the application reaches 100 percent with several test methods. © 2022 IEEE.
